I've never owned a VW before bug that Amorak has me drooling thinking of something that versatile that gets that kind of fuel economy. I love my 2006 Tacoma Sport 4 door but it only averages 15.5 mpg. Sounds like its not coming anytime soon though

VW's Pickup Concept Won't Hit U.S. Roads - PickupTrucks.com News

Concept is interesting. 3.0l diesel with 442 torques could be a big seller, but I imagine it will come with a big price. The truck also looks lowered and less of a work truck, more of a mall crawler. Unfortunately that is exactly what happened to NA half tons. Hopefully its just a concept and wont translate into production.

Thank you. I was not sure how to do that. :(

SFA, handshaker, add an air intake snork!'

NP.

Too bad they dont offer it in a crew cab like the VW, LC and Hilux.

Speaking of Hilux, might as well add a pic of it for clarity.

For comparison, the NA Tacoma. Personally I like the looks of the Hilux MUCH better. The front end and body is much cleaner. Reminds me of a modernized version of my '95.5 tacoma. I never was a fan of the odd shaped wheelwells on the new Taco.

I STILL want one of these Land Cruiser pickups. This one is a diesel, too! New manufacture with a diesel wouldn't be bad, either. :)

IH Scout and Jeep CJ had diesel engine options in the 1960's, I believe. IIRC, the IH used a Nissan 6cyl and Jeep used a Perkins 4cyl.

PS-looked it up in Wikipedia. IH was later than I thought.

At the time, International did not manufacture a diesel engine small enough to be used in the Scout, and so starting in 1976 used the Nissan SD33 diesel engine as a diesel option. This engine was replaced by the Nissan SD33T turbodiesel engine in 1980.

From 1961 to 1965, optional for the CJ-5 and CJ-6 was the British-made Perkins 192 cu in (3.15 L) Diesel I4

While i wish the manufactures could bring these here, i may have to build one before long.

I've been driving my Saturn to work daily, and the 35mpg is great. But I need better ground clearance and 4x4. And realistically i may only be able to keep the Saturn going for another 2 years with the miles i put on. A CRV wouldn't be bad, but a little diesel truck would be great. 5 spd stick and four doors. Or a medium sized diesel SUV would work as well.

But i doubt one will be available by the time i need it. Been thinking about doing a small Cummins swap into an old blazer. Simple, relatively easy, and probably can be done under $10k.

The Scout is one of my all time favourite trucks. Up here in the salt belt, it is very rare to see any on the road. Big :D when I do !

My friends dad had an 80' scout II diesel, what a great truck, we would go road hunting all day and wouldn't burn a half tank of fuel, between 30-35 mpg
and it would go any where. the only downside, it wasn't a speed demon by any means, topped at at 85, but i'd sacrifice that for all the other pluses.
Mahindra is supposed to be selling a nice SUV in the states soon with a nice turbo diesel, 32 to 36 mpg.
