Beekeep, the M96 can be used on any tractor with a 3 point. It is avaialble with an extension for the hopper. Herd also makes several larger units. Recently, Nuru, turbo 4100, purchased a nice spreader but I forget the brand. Maybe he will chime in. Hey, Nuru, my 2410 will smoke your turbo 4100. Probably just a dumb question: Some one told me that if you use these cone type spreaders for spreading a seed mixture that certain seeds (depending on there size) will sift right to the bottom as you bounce along. Clover seed is much smaller than grass seed, so I could see how that might happen. Then all your clover would end up in one spot. Anyone know about this problem.

I have not found that to be a problem but usually I spread my seed types individually. I have four acres of Broam, Alfalfa and Red Clover. I seeded them individually. J

I have used the Herd Seeder M96 for fertilizer and grass seed, I have never used it for a mix of any kind but I have never had any trouble with the product moving to one side. Unless I am on my side hill and it does tend to create its own level somewhat then.

If you are interested what the extension looks like on the Herd Seeder M96, here is a picture. It adds 16 inches to the height and is 21 inch across the top. I can see already I will need to attach it in a way that I can remove it easily to get to the base to measure the opening gate and grease the fitting. I am way to short to reach the bottom.

Will the cone spreaders that TSC sell with the rotating arm inside the spreader spread powdered lime as well?

Yes they will, salt and sand too but you'll want to wash it out or get the unit with the poly hopper it you'll be doing alot of salting.

You may also want to note the TSC cone style doesn't have the fine metering capability of the Herd so I don't recommend it for seeding.
