Speculators had their money in the mortgage market and are now throwing it into oil. We're in a recession and the cost of living increases are pinching everyone who's not solidly in the middle class or higher. I'm not smart enough to say what's going to happen, and it's been a long time since I was in school, but I thought recent market developments sounded familiar.

That artical is a little "left" don't ya think ?
opens with the 2 main reasons where the run up of the stock market (duh), and that some people where to rich, then the whole artical was slamming succesful people ??
Did Henry Ford belong to a secret "rich white mans club" ? or did he work hard, put his life savings at risk, and not give up ?

I had someone comment that with corn prices at a 25 year high, that farmers should help the country by selling for less. I had to restrain myself and asked if he would like to be paid what he was paid 25 years ago - then be asked to give some back.

What that means is that America is exporting more tractors, one of the reasons sales are up on 100+ HP.

That would not be shown on an AEM report. More equipment is going over seas, no doubt about that. Some stuff is hard to get ahold of right now because exports are up. The weaker dollar is not bad for everyone.

Slack, I cannot really comment on the article in it's entirety. Really, I just wanted to make a point about speculation. I'm certain there are better articles discussing speculation and the great depression. I was hoping to turn up a comparison to todays conditions, but didn't.
