Compact tractor suggestions?

Marchanna,

You have a ds4110 loader w/ a two yard bucket? Incredible exaggerations at work on TBN.

EDIT: the bucket alone, light materials variety, would weigh 1200 lbs, or more?

Haha, its not a two yard bucket. I said I can scoop up almost 2 yards with it. Balancing all that and trying to get it from one place to another is a challenge just in itself.

Understand, it is a magic bucket, it can hold two yards of material but is not a 2 yard capacity bucket, Wonder the weight factor for two yards of "earth"?

Well, if you’ve ever scooped up a solid mass of compacted earth, you’d know what I’m talking about. Definitely pushing the limits of what the tractor can do.

That being said, loose material like gravel, there’s no way you’d be able to pick up any volume like that.

In retrospect, we’re clearly not talking about the same measurement.

For reference, if I fill my 6x10 dump trailer level to the top it will hold 4 yards of material. I dont do this though since that is way overloaded, I run about 2 yards at a time.

The payloader will fill it with one scoop, their skidsteer with a one yard bucket is two obviously. A two yard bucket would be huge on most tractors.

Probably not. Here are some engineering shortcuts:
1 cubic yd is 27 cubic feet
1 cu yd of dense mulch weighs almost 1000 lbs, 1 cu yd soil weighs 2000 lbs.
1 cu yd of sand/gravel is 3000 lbs, concrete is 4000 lbs/cu yd.
Add 200 lbs/cu yd if the material is wet.

For tractor comparisons, the Kubota M59 below has a 1 cu yd bucket and can lift 4000 lbs to full height. The yellow JD has a special large 1.3 cu yd bucket and can handle over 7000 lbs. All lifting measurements are considered to be taken at the bucket pivot.
To handle that kind of weight, the JD bucket weighs 1500 lbs empty. This JD tractor is roughly twice the size and weight as the M59.
