Compact Utility Tractor + skid steer implements?

Hello all,

I'm in the market for a new (to me) tractor.

I'm looking for a tractor that can run skid steer implements via quick attach. A huge bonus would be to find one that has quick attach and high flow. Don't know if such a creature exists.

I read a little around the latter and realize it can get pretty complicated pretty fast. Setting the high flow question to the side for a moment, I'm looking for something with a loader strong enough to handle the weight of skid steer implements.

Smaller footprint machine and 4wd is important to me because my primary work site is hilly and wooded. So is a diesel engine because I prefer it over gas motors.

I'm not opposed to buying an older machines. I prefer to buy used and without electronic and/or emissions control if possible but can also buy new when it makes sense.

Should I be looking for a full size tractor or are there CUTs that will fit the bill?

PS: I'm aware that this is the typical 'dream' thread: a machine that does everything I've ever wanted and small enough to fit in my shed. I'm trying to narrow down my expectations against reality, bear with me.

Very few ,if any tractors have enough flow for skid steer attachments.Only real way to do it is with a power-pack off the rear PTO.Pretty exspensive.They can "fit" with a SS quick attach but doubt if enough flow is available.

Believe Massey has the highest implement hydraulic flow rate at 12.6gpm on their 1800M and 2600M series tractors. SSQA plus two gear driven hydraulic pumps, one for steering at 7gpm and one for implements at 12.6gpm, 19.6gpm total. Check the requirements on your desired implements for compatibility.

Depending on what you are trying to run. So, in the road work world, many 40-60hp tractors are used to run a from mounted broom. Some have an auxiliary pump, others just have aux tank and cooling.

Some quick Google shows 10-25 gpm to run a 72" broom.

Are we talking a brush cutter, milling machine, broom, or what impliments

A Massey 2860M power shuttle, you have 12.7 gpm, and that independent of the driveline. That will run Some skid steer impliments. It looks like a 60" hydralic brush cutter (not a true mulcher) takes 15 gpm; broom around 10 gpm; stump grinder 12 gpm plus

You didn't mention needing a PTO; so take a look at used John Deere 210LE type machines; also New Holland/JCB/others; they offer a very heavy, strong, medium sized machine, with great lift and hydralic flow; But they aren't typically equipped with ssqa. They are also crazy expensive new. Some have/had/could be equipped with a PTO; but make 100% sure, because they often dont/didn't come with them. They are ment as dedicated construction grade tractors.

You mentioned stability; and it's hard to beat a 10-14,000 lbs, 75-99 hp, power shuttle grade tractor; IF it fits your specific tasks; just have to go into it knowing they are built to be great at 1 thing; and aren't really the multi-tool that a utility tractor is

Some things like a grapple won’t be a problem. Others like a forestry mulcher would be. An auxiliary pump can be added to the pto and if the tractor has enough hp it would probably work. I’d think you’d need at least 40hp.
