I just find this all pretty funny because I had been doing the exact same thing for about two months before making my decision and I had seen the exact opposite - lots of complaints and problems in the Kubota forums, and not nearly as many in the Deere forums; mostly "how do I do X" posts. Of course my survey had no scientific validity either, but that's what I saw earlier this year.

Well it is certainly possible that this was a random phenomenon. The two times I went over there, there just seemed to be a bunch of complaints about various things. I remember one guy saying his MMM would fall off every time he made a right turn, and another guy complaining about not beaing able to get his new tractor started etc...There were pages of stuff like that. I had also been told by a bunch of farmers in my area that Deere had taken a big hit in quality recently so I naturally took this as verification - to a certain degree. Since then I have looked through a few times and noticed fewer complaints.

In response to a previous poster's mention about why JD owners have infiltrated the Kubota forum, I should mention I frequently look at the forums from other tractor brands. I find it helpful for me to know. I own a JD tractor, but I might not necessarily recommend one to everyone who asks me. As in all brands, I think there are great JD machines and average ones. Having personally owned and operated most of those in the compact line, I have a reasonably good feel for the JD product, and have on occasion suggested another brand to a friend or colleague. For example, last week I recommended a New Holland machine to someone who called me, because it was perfect for his needs, and he had gotten a good price from a very good dealer in his area. The JD machine was equivalent, but not better, and the dealer was not as good. My personal loyalty to green eminates largely from my dealer, who has been great to me, and from the fact I have NEVER owned a bad JD product. Consistently, the JD products as a group are at or near the top of their class, and are the brand in many cases to which others are compared. This is neither right nor wrong, just as it is. I really do not think that reputation and marketing alone can accomplish this, it is as a result of consistency in product lines.

I own both brands, the kubota is a good tractor but the jo
n deere cab and and the kubota dont even compare.
JD is much better, kubota cab leaks dust since it was new.
JD service and warranty much better, kubota you have to fight with the dealer on every issue. As far as parts go, JD will stock most parts, if they dont have it they will get it within 1 or 2 days. Kubota dealer will get the part within 1to 3 weeks, and usually get the wrong part.
I like things about both tractors but I am willing to pay a little more for good service. You have to wonder why the kubota dealer that posts on here trying to defend his product, by bashing JD.

I'll try to make this as condensed as possible but who has the most firsts here, who was the first to give you an air conditioned factory cab? A commercial duty mini TLB. A power shift transmission in a compact! A flat deck operator platform(I remember bumping knee caps)and there is more. Kubota sets the standard and the trends.
!

When did Kubota put the power shift in? Ford had a Select-O-Shift hydraulically controlled transmission in 1958 for the famous "hundred series" tractors.

I belong to a number of forums on different subjects because I find the best info comes from people passionate enough to want to be involved with the subject on a regular basis. Other than my few stays at a Holiday Inn Express, I find it's still the best way to learn about a subject. It also gives you a good insight into human nature.
People buy tractors for a number of reasons and if you are honest with yourself, not all those reasons make a whole lot of sense. The JD would impress my neighbors, The kubota would be easier on the wallet, and strictly by looks alone the red MF tractor against the green grass just looked great to me. I liked the Kioti tractors too since they seemed to offer a lot for the money, but my co-workers proclaimed them junk and I just didn't want to hear it every day if I bought one. (From what I see, they are a great tractor).
Every brand has it's idiot owners, dealers, and fanatical fans. Discussions degenerate into useless "mines better because" rants that go nowhere. I've heard all about why my tractor, "a pee wee Kubota" ,as one guy tells me, is no good. In my younger days, I too, would feel compelled to respond and defend her honor. Age has taught me that would be a waste of time. Think what you will, I love my tractor, and much like women, apprerciate the beauty of others as well. I don't feel the need to justify my tractor by bashing yours.
Threads like this are great for one thing. They seperate the real tractor guys who just like tractors ,from the "Brand Fans" who are too biased or busy justifying their purchase to give real info. There are some great people on here who I admire as much for their maturity and honesty as the info they give. It's easier for me because I rarely post. Hats Off to you regular posters who hang in their without losing your cool. I don't know if I could suppress the stupid kid in me as long as you do.

I read or at least scan most of the forums and post in topics that interest me (assuming I have something worthwhile to contribute...or, if I'm bored).
Simple as that...

For the record, previous post in no way telling all JD guys to "Keep Out" of the Kubota forums (amazing how people can read way more into something than there is). There's a difference between genuine curiosity/interest and those who have or are trying to start something... you know who you are. There's no need for bashing or showboating. For the same reason I wouldn't walk into a biker bar wearing a Yamaha R1 full racing suit and start talking trash about the parking lot full of Harleys.

With the exception of the cab (maybe yours was Monday or Friday production?), seems as though your problems lie with your Kubota dealer, which is unfortunate because you're bound to associate that with the tractor. By comparison, sounds like your JD dealer is on his game. Yet another example of what a powerful influence the dealers can be on owner satisfaction, in addition to the initial sale.
