Just to keep this thread honest, here's the "ergonomic nightmare" that is my new Kubota:

As we all know.....tractors are like shoes, one size does not fit all. ;)

IXLR8 has it right.

Just to satisfy my curiosity and since you also have a Kioti CK30HST, why not post a picture, the same view of your operator's platfom? I would love to see the superior layout - excuse me, foot print of the Kioti.

...in completeness, what IXLR8 actually wrote was "I would have gone Kubota if they were comfortable for me and not an ergonomic nightmare."

Let's not start a color war. Obviously the "nightmare" term is an exaggeration though as I recall there have been quite a number of complaints by the folks on the Kubota forum about lousy seat position and comfort on the B3030. I haven't checked recently but I even recall some discussion about Kubota replacing that seat. The Kioti comes with a pretty nice suspension seat so many people may find it more comfortable. For some people the Kioti fits better and for others the Kubota. No biggie.

It is too late for Kubota.. unless they want to change their layout and ergonomics. I am not sure what dealer you are referring to, but yes the local 'Friendly' Kubota dealer does seem willing to go the extra mile, but the Kubota's just are not ergonomically friendly for me.

davitk: as noted above, I did quote IXLR8 exactly.

The ergonomic nightmare line actually came in the next sentence.....

Due to the local dealer, I would have gone Kubota if they were comfortable for me and not an ergonomic nightmare.

Beauty (operator platform layout) is in the eye of the beholder. So while my CK30 is right for me doesn't mean it's right for everybody.

As IT stated: No biggie.

Before we get into too much of one upmanship contest here. The issues I have with the Kubota are: With the CTD (Cumulitive Trama Disorder) in my right arm.. there is no way I can hold my arm up and use the FEL control for any extended period of time. I found the backhoe operators station very cramped for my long legs. My feet felt tucked under me and I was perched on the seat, felt like I was going to fall forward onto the BH. After a little bit of use, I found that I had put my feet on top of the foot protection guards. Guess they are not going to provide much protection if my feet are on top of them and not behind them. The dealer showed me the Woods BH has more room, with an adjustable seat, but was not going install one on a machine for me to check out... unless I bought the machine... before he put it on. Also, with my large feet, I prefer the flat floor of the CK machines over the angled one on the Kubota. Kubota's are a good machine, the local dealer is very good, excellent compaired to the others in the area. But for ME, the ergos are a no go... I do wish this was not the case, but it is. The FEL control up on the FEL unit and not on the side of the seat, like JD and Kioti, was the reason for me eliminating ALL the tractors that are set up that way.

The original seat on the B3030 I found to be terrible, I actually slid off the front of the seat. There is no way I could use that machine with that seat. The dealer sent me an email 2 weeks later when he had the new upgraded seat installed. It was night and day, the new seat was very supportive and comfortable.

Here's a quote from page # one of this thread, and I will leave it at that barring further slander and misinformation:

The B series Kubotas are not in the same size class as the Kioti CK30, the Kubota L2800 or L3400 frame and weight are much more similar. The B3030 seats on ALL new tractors are a different design; if you like the tractor order a new one that already has the new seat,

Just for kicks, you really ought to look at a Kubota Grand L (e.g. L3240), about 1800.00 more than the B3030 but 2x the tractor. Very, very nice tractor.

Good luck and have fun!

Because of the name on this thread I will re-post my picture, smaller sized :)o ), since it does have it's place and to keep the facts straight.

IXLR8, I truly am happy for you and wish you the best of luck with your new machine. The CTD (not sure what that is, but I have right side rotator cuff/tennis elbow/wrist problems myself) will truly justify a fender mounted joystick, I love mine. And, just for the record and for those reading this thread and tractor shopping at the same time, fender mount relocation kits are availble for many machines.

Peace.

Inline pictures are time consuming to load for slower dial-up internet connections.....so.... changing the picture to an attachment is a common courtesy and has no bearing on keeping the "facts straight".

"......further slander and misinformation."

hmmmm....inappropriate strong words I'd say.
