I read the thread as pretty innocuous as well, and I own a 'Bota.

Well I didn't think I jumped on anyone, but the bold type you added seemed to be pretty confrontational, especially since it talked about a completely different suit that had nothing to do with Kioti versus Kubota. And the references prior to that about "legitimate" sources seemed at least a little bit challenging. I suppose we could dig up product recalls and find that John Deere leads the pack on those, or lament about the fact that New Holland is an Italian company owned by Fiat and that Fiat is not known for quality, and we could all jump on a big pile.

I just really thought that this thread was about what to compare a CK20 against in a fair battle, not about the corporate lawyers fighting over the use of orange paint, or the clutch problems that infect one tractor but have never been brought up earlier in the thread as an issue. etc etc etc

I think here we have another example of how something that is written can be interpreted differently by individuals.

Bob, you read the bold type in John's response as being confrontational, because people frequently use bold type to emphasize a point.

I read the bold type as John "quoting" from something that he read regarding the class action lawsuit.

And as far as the thread degenerating into an Orange vs Orange debate, I didn't get that feeling at all. Again, John referred to the lawsuit as a reason why Kubota made no reference to Kioti in their comparison. Naturally Kubota would not refer to any Kioti equipment in any of their publications. And he did agree with the fact that the Kioti should not be compared.

I think it is virtually impossible to have any thread, regardless of the topic, to get through it's entire "life" without some type of an aside occurring. Whether it's a question or comment that isn't exactly related to the topic, or some bit of humor that's injected to lighten things up, it happens.

Yes, the thread did deviate somewhat from the original topic. But it wasn't because someone was trying to bash another brand. It just kind of evolved as the result of slightly related comments being included a couple of times.

Kind of like this reply! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Sorry, I must be overly sensitive today.

Maybe I need to watch some more re-runs of Tool Time and stay away from Oprah! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I can easily see how you might misinterpret my post, but as others said, the lawsuit came up legitimately, and the other, bold article, as simply something that I found while searching for the settlement that Neil referred to, and I thought others might find it interesting, especially if they owned those models in the class action. The bold was simply setting the article apart from the rest of my post. Anyone who has read some of my replys to Neil will tell you that if I'd meant anything untoward, I would have been very direct about it. Just another case where the written word can be misunderstood so easily, and my feelings were bruised by your reference to the "lack of civility," which I never intended. I appreciate that you care enough to check it out though, and always enjoy your informative and interesting posts. John
