Tractor
a 67 Cub LowBoy - would love to restore her. Also have a 2004 Kubota BX-23.
I couldn't help but notice at the Kubota website they have a comparison chart for the BX1830 and they show the John Deere and the Iseki Massey as the only comparisons. Kioti, in particular the CK20, is strangely absent. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I don't think it the CK20 is "strangely absent" at all.

The CK20 has DOUBLE the ground clearance, a longer wheelbase by several inches and a longer overall length. Basically the CK20 is a larger tractor in every way.

That said, the Kubota is a SUB-Compact tractor, as is the Massey GC series, and the small JD2210. On an apples to apples comparison, the tractor that is missing is the NH TZ series, but it is probably missing for one very good reason, they are brand new and just hitting the dealer's show floors.

The CK20 is simply not in the same class as the above 4 mentioned machines. It is much more tractor and belongs in the small frame compact tractor class along with the Kubota B7500 or NH TC18 or 21. I think if you do an apples to apples comparison you will find the CK20 is similar to the small frame compact size tractors.

As Bob said, they are not comparable tractors. The Kubota B7510 and B7610 are more comparable, but Kubota only compares them with Deere on the competitive comparison chart. I don't think Kubota acknowledges Kioti as a competitor. As a matter-of-fact, they have an ongoing lawsuit against Kioti for the use of color and some hood designs. I had looked at those tractors before deciding on the Kioti CK20HST. The main differences were: Kioti has more weight, higher 3pt lift capacity, position control as opposed to only 1/4" increments on the hitch, platform frame instead of ladder construction, and others, plus I paid less for the Kioti. The Kubota is a fine tractor, the Kioti just made sense for me. John

Have you heard anything more on the lawsuite of Kubota vs. Kioti? I've been hearing the same thing for a very long time now. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

No, I haven't heard anything new. These things always take years, and I don't really think they have much of a chance. The colors aren't really the same, and most tractors look about the same except for the ones with sloped hoods. I think it was just a ploy on their part to try to cause Kioti problems, but I think it helped a lot instead. John

I read a press release awhile back that it was over. Well one of them anyway. I don't know about the Orage color law suit, but there was one about Kioti dealers telling customers that their tractors where made right along side Kubota's. That they lost.

Neil, where did you find this information? I can find no evidence that this suit has ended. As a matter-of-fact, the Kubota suit for trade dress infringement was filed along with the complaint of misrepresention of a Kubota/Kioti relationship. I believe they are all part of the same suit. If you have any legitimate references to the end of a lawsuit, I'd be interested to see it. John
Edit: I did find some interesting information about a class action lawsuit against Kubota:
Purchasers of Kubota M-8200 and M-9000 Tractors Claim Defective Clutches
A national class action has been filed in South Carolina against the Kubota Tractor Company. The action is brought on behalf of all U.S. residents or entities (except those residing in Louisiana) who have purchased a Kubota M-8200 or M-9000 tractor within 3 years of February 3, 2004. The action alleges that these tractors contain defective clutch discs and seeks the rescission of the sales of the defective tractors, or in the alternative, the repair and replacement of the clutch discs at no charge to the class members. The action is brought under the Uniform Commercial Code, which is recognized in all states except Louisiana and the laws of negligence.

I find it kind of sad that this post has degenerated into an Orange versus Orange fight.

The original poster made a comment that the CK20 was missing in a comparitive with the Kubota BX1830 when he felt it should be. A couple of follow ups were posted attempting to explain that a CK20 is not a sub-compact and therefore the comparision is simply not valid, the CK20 is a compact and should be compared with other compact tractors in the same power range. The BX is a sub-compact and should be compared with other sub-compacts of similar power.

Now all of a sudden we are reading about non-related class actions, blah blah blah.

There is another thread about the LOSS OF CIVILITY on TBN, perhaps people should check it out. We should be able to compare tractors without getting all hot and bothered and starting fights.

It's the misunderstanding of posts such as these that causes a lot of the problem Bob. Neither Neil nor myself is fighting about anything here. Someone asked about the lawsuit, and Neil said one was over. I tried to find it to read about it and asked him if he has a ligitimate source that I can read. There is no fight. Please give us a break with the misunderstanding and jumping on us for no reason. Thanks, John
