Interesting write up 284! That is quite the machine and so powerful for its size wow!!! 31 pto hp and the traction to go with that's a great combo but run time would be a serious issue with the mini tank.

I always wonder what is going on in the minds of designers and engineers too. Of course I am also not the first to say WOW "now that was smart" either when it is.

I cant say on here what I really think about most of them when I come along and have to work on/and make my living fixing some of their creations/disasters.

No kidding, like the rear spark plugs on a 3rd gen Chrysler mini-van with a v6.

Yup I agree they are lots of fun or even most of the current Asian cars and v6 Fords you need to pull the upper intake off and some are a real bear like that Chrysler. All costs get passed on to the consumer naturally. :)

I wont even dream of working on a current Ford or Chevy diesel pickup holy mackerel what a mess under their hoods!

LOL, ya gotta wonder what they are thinking. All the plugs are painless on my Honda van but then I have to deal with the timing belt every 100k. My sons Audi is an odd duck to work on.

Nothing is what I think is going on in their heads.

The oil filters, as mentioned, are problematic too. They are regularly available on eBay, but start around $35 apiece plus shipping. Some are over $40 each! The guy in Canada, Tom, has them for about $22. Baldwin filters lists a will-fit, but the dimensions they list on their website are wrong. I have not ordered one in to see. The Napa cross to the Baldwin is 1034, which if true, will not fit at all.

I've owned a 993.3 since 1987 and have used the NAPA 1034 filters all along with no problem. Can't beat the current price of $3.08 either.

What is the 993.3? Is it a three cylinder version of the 993? What engine does it have? The 1034 filter option would be nice, but there's no way it's fitting on the 92/2 Ruggerini as-is. I wonder if there is an original option for the filter that takes the 1034 or similar filters.

Whenever I see pics of 993 models on this site I'm surprised to usually see machines with the blue and orange paint scheme and looking like much earlier models than my 993.3 Pasquali. Mine came in the light tan and dark brown paint combo with the more recent body style.

The engine is a two cylinder Ruggerini rated at 28hp. I can't remember the brand of the original European oil filter but the dealer I bought from in 1987 (Doug Jackson in Prospect, ME) told me that the NAPA 1034 filter was a perfect fit with no modification and that's what I've used ever since.

It was interesting to see the discussion about fuel filters being located at the bottom of the fuel tank. Mine may have one at that location but that is the first I've heard of it since my machine was delivered with a bracket mounted cup and filter outside the engine on the right side. I remember Doug telling me that he commonly replaced these with Subaru fuel filter assemblies when they got broken off being used in the woods.

Please excuse my confusing previous post. I intended the first paragraph to quote a section of a previous post. Only the last two lines are my own.

Not sure of the year of mine but I believe it to be in the late 80's from what I have found digging around. Like yours, mine is also a light tan/off white and a dark brown in color. I am not aware of mine being anything other than a 993, but it also has the 28hp 2 cylinder Ruggerini.
