Hi

I wondered if anyone could tell me why my computer has all of a sudden started to flicker every few minutes and when this happens the sound of electrical spark come from the screen.

It usually means your monitor is dying (high voltage section)...good time to buy that new flat panel display.

not good> would suggest that u check out all the good buys on monitors , think u might be needing one. but check your cables first, make sure u have good connections.

Have you put anything with magnets (for example - speakers) near your screen?

My old monitor did that for several months before it finally died. In the later stages of it's death throes it would go black; after cutting it off and waiting about fifteen minutes it would work again. I would save myself the aggravation of watching it slowly die and go ahead and buy a new monitor.

Yes, mine did that for 11 months and 29 days, then died (very thoughtfully) on the LAST DAY of my warranty, just went all fuzzy. Dell sent a new monitor that arrived in a couple of days. Now I have to ask, how often does that happen? I figure it's a once in a lifetime deal.

Bottom line, you should look for a good deal on a monitor, unless you are still under warranty.

Hi Folks

Well yesterday the moniter crashed; totally died. I have had to drag out an old one, must be 7yrs old covered in dust and cobwebs, but i'm back in action. I have orded a new moniter, should be here tomorrow. Today i hope to make a few phone calls to a mate that bought the one that just died. He is an I.T. administrator and he got it for me when he bought a heap of computers cheap. It is 2.5 yrs old, a (daimond veiw 1770e mitsubishi) I hope it's still under warranty.

John, my Dell monitor hasn't died yet, but before I bought the Dell, I was using and IBM computer and monitor and that IBM monitor died while still under warranty twice!

Well, I don't know what to say about that. On the one hand it's good that it was taken care of, but on the other hand, when the warranty ran out, I'd have been concerned! Sounds like you did the right thing when you got a new one.
