Most reviews I have read on the B3030 have been very positive, but I have read a few general concerns about using a hydrostatic transmission to do things like pull a plow. Those who had concerns with doing so were not clear on how big of an implement they were trying to pull.

Would you have any concerns with tilling, ripping, or plowing an acre or two with a B3030HSD, assuming attachments were sized right (for example, everything attachments recommendations)?

I would not have any concerns. The Hydro-stat is ideal for tilling as it allows you to go at the most advantageous speed or dwell at a "rough spot" that needs additional tilling.

Zero concerns.

I used my HST to till a 1//4 acre of lawn. Worked great.
My old JD 214 was geared. Trying to till with it was a pain. It had a separate gear for the tiller but still had to work the clutch to pause on a hard spot.

I have no concerns. We plow, disc, rip, etc. Does the tractor's HST whine? Sure. But it whines whenever I push snow or do other forceful work too and I just keep going. SUDT-2 takes a lot of the whine out, BTW, but not all of it. Nature of the beast but I don't allow the whining to stop me from doing whatever I need to do. It's a tractor. I bought it to do work and work it does. Don't over think it, I guess.

BP, one thing I have noticed is that the smaller the tractor the louder the whine. I suppose it may have to do with having smaller passageways in the smaller machines. But as I have progressed to larger machines, the whine is less and less.

True. My b7500 had much more wine. My l5240 has next to none in low gear.

James, I noticed the same thing. Not sure if the larger tractors don't also have other factors coming into play as well. Nonetheless, if it is tractor made for work, around here, work is what it's gonna get. I don't worry about it.

Same here, with my DK35se. In low gear I cannot hear it even when loaded. I can hear some in MED when heavily loaded, and certainly can hear some in HI when pulling a hill for instance.
