concise list of differences between BX1500 and BX1500D

Does anybody have a concise list of differences between these two tractor models? I've searched and haven't been able to determine what's different.
Thoughts?

Welcome to T-B-N.



BX1500 was last sold in 2005, so tractor is at least 15 years old.

Horsepower is 15, enough to mow, not much else. PTO horsepower is 10.5.

Focus on your tasks. Do you need to do anything but mow 48" swathes with a mid-mount mower?

If you have other needs beside mowing a residential lawn seek a larger, more powerful machine.

If mowing 85% what you need to do with a subcompact tractor a BX1500 is great.

It's really more of a general question since I've seen both and I was curious what the difference was other than year of production. Bigger engine? hydraulic ports? Anything significant?

I've got 3 acres of flat land to mow with the desire to someday put a bunch of posts in to add a sheep field. I don't need much.

actually nevermind.. Apparerently D is for diesel and there was only ever the BX1500D and sometimes people drop the D.. I checked with my local Kubota shop.

Interesting.

But do not let the comment that your tractor is so small (lacking power) it can not do much work hold you back. My BX 2200 runs out of traction well before it runs out of HP.

Uhmm. I read up on the Kubota suffix letters after your first inquiry, and found the "D" to be conspicuously absent for the BX series. Most models use D or DT to indicate 4wd, and E or F to indicate 2wd. My first Kubota was a B8200e 2wd beast. It was small and low on horsepower, but I got a lot done with that machine!

I agree with Henro. If you're accustomed to a ten or twelve hp lawn tractor, you're going to find power output of the BX1500 is very impressive. Much easier on fuel, too. Best of luck with yours, they are neat little workhorses.

My little BX2200 lifts and turns a 62" flail mower just fine, albeit, I'm not mowing down 4' grasses. But for 1-2' grass, it's happy.

The BX1500 is an interesting machine, it's got a 2 cylinder engine.

Also, don't let the 15HP scare you... it's a true 15HP.

Give you an example, I had a 27 HP Cub Cadet Garden tractor (gas), and would stall under thick spring grass. My BX2200 has rarely ever made any issue of it... in fact, it acts like it's mowing normal grass.

When I traded the Cub Cadet, someone asked, why in the world would I drop in HP. There's a huge difference in the power a diesel versus gas engine.

At least in my experience, I would never look at a gas mower again.

(Caveat: I know people are stretched about HP and this and that... but I'm just giving my real world life experiences!)
