Concrete finishing?

Smooth floor/broomed apron. The finishing crew was top notch, IMO. They were agreeable to any finish we wanted. After thinking about our (my) master plan, which includes new walkways, exposed aggregate wasn't going to do it. The finishers did make the apron look like the slab before they broomed. There are more grooved expansion joints. I had them put about a 1/2" of slope from back to front. The drip ledge for the doors was their idea, but I really like it.
I was a little worried at first. The first concrete truck showed up before the finish crew (they ordered 20 yards) /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif The other thing that bothers me is where did all the concrete go? Should have been about 19 yards ending up pouring 21.5 yards. If I would have poured this myself, I would have been in trouble. As it was, they just called for a short load and pressed on.

MikePA: Resized another too wide, inline picture to 640.

Are there expansion joints inside the garage area?

Who released the first truck if nobody was there? Not an issue really if you got the first truckload of the day. There's still plenty of time to work it.

Where does the concrete go??? "The world may never know" (how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie-roll pop). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Actually. it's normally compaction in the stone base. Unless I use pea-gravel, I add about 10% to accommodate. (pea-gravel if I recall has > 90% compaction itself)

That's a bit risky.
There's only 2 guarantees that come with concrete.
1. It'll get hard.
2. It'll crack.

You may want to consider sawing to control the cracking that may occur.

Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!

I just paid $60/yard for fiber reinforced 3500 psi. Without the fiber it was only $54/yd.

</font> Good possibility, but we'll wait and see. It wouldn't be much of a challenge to saw it now. I'll wait 'til I get it chuck full. Should take longer for it to crack./forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif On the price issue, all We can do is pay it or don't use it, right? Aren't there 40 - 80 lb. premix bags to a yard? Last time I looked, they were $3.19 / bag would still be a big ole chunk of money ~ $2880.57 including tax, not including labor. Now, the premix guys have to pay for fuel, environmental fees, hot water, taxes, insurance, trucks, loaders, etc. So, looking at that way, I got a deal. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
