Confused about lights...B7800

Thanks all.
Lights on and working great. The Service Manager at the Kubota dealer was absolutely great. Spent a half-hour with me, gave me a whole relay harness and drew a diagram for me. Was already to do that when I mentioned the hot wire stubbed on the back. He tested it, said it would be easier to use that. So off I went with the relay and the diagram in case I ever wanted to redo it that way.

Bottom line...55 W forward, 55 W to the rear. Looking good and seeing well.

as number two said make sure you have the alternator not the stock dynamo.

I changed my front bulbs to 50 watt halogens and added a single TSC 50 watt halogen (via that spare wire under the seat) to the back. Because I have a dynamo it drained my batterey dead when I had all three 50 watt lights on. I added a switch to that back light and only use it when needed.

I should buy the alternator as the lighting still isn't good enough at night when plowing snow with my ski googles on.

Or, does someone have a better idea?

There is a factory circuit for work lights, it does come out a the rear of the tractor wiring harness near the back turn signals. On my B7800, the circuit has a 20 Amp fuse. At 12 volts, that is 240 watts of power. I run four 50 watt lamps, 2 in the front, 2 in the back. I have a simple toggle switch I added in so I can turn the lights on and off. I have used the lights a lot and have had no problems at all.

I believe that is a switched line isn't it? By that I mean when you turn off the key the power is removed from the outlet.

Yes, that IS a switched line.

And I've had NO problems with stock front lights, the two 55's and the dynamo. Three lights might put you over the edge, however...

I know this thread is old - but I'm new and had a thought.
There are several automotive LED lights now available that might allow you to add a lot more light without a lot more Watts.
Something to check out?
