Considering 3 pt tiller

I recommend covering your tracks too. I have a KK 84" that I use on my DX55. That's about a foot wider than my tracks. I think I probably have around 45 HP out back. I have heavy, hard, compacted soil, but I have never come close to lugging the tractor. On untilled ground, the limiting factor is the weight of the tiller and the depth it can cut on a first pass. A hydro tractor could go slower than my geared one, so that would help. After that, I can bury the tiller but it does not work the tractor at all. In fact, I could till in mid to low RPMs but the tine speed is too slow so I bump up the RPMs. As a comparison, a 2 bottom plow gives this tractor all it can handle in the same soil.

Check out the Ansung Terra Force models. You can run a YJR 074 (74" gear driven) with your tractor as I am doing it with much less HP (26.5). The unit is built like a tank. Had mine 4 years now with no issues. Local AGG dealer runs them in his rental department as they seem to be indestructible. Some advertisers here carry them.

While we don't have a large space we have enough and in the future I want to reclaim some overgrown spots!
Ordered a LS XR4145HC
Looking at a 72 inch tiller with width of tractor! Think 60 is too small

I will be trying to supplement the ground over next few seasons to bring up soil to par!

Here are my questions
King kutter? Vs Everything attachments or other brands.
Gear drive seems logical but is there benefits of gear vs chain
What options on reverse rotation? Pro vs cons
I plan to not only till the broken ground but till in straw, compost etc!

I can sell your a 6 Ft Tarter Geardrive roto tiller that can be operated in forward or reverse rotation mode for $1980 delivered to Pa. Link below. Ken Sweet

Just a thought - many places run deep sales starting in October, so keep your eyes open. Also check around for any agg rental places. My YJR 074 was in service a year, had been used 4 times and was 1/2 price to new. Happy hunting

Go with the 72". I have a 60" KK on a 28hp tractor, and have never had it bog down. You've got a lot more power, so you'll have no issue with the 72" tiller. It takes me longer to hook up the tiller and turn the tractor around that it does to till the garden. One of the best purchases I made. I got mine on CL for $900, been used once, was too big for the purchasers Ford 8N.

Tillers do not work well on 8Ns in my area because you do not have a low enough gear. Tiller will just push the tractor. This is a reason to by a reverse tiller. Even then I do not have knowledge if it would work.

^^ yep.

I converted my 54" yanmar to reverse rotation just so it could be used with dad's 8n. It worked fine with my Kubota l3400 at the time, which had a low gear of 0.9mph.

The 8n at 3 mph was just too fast. Trying to til with it, it almost looked like the pto was off, and the rotor/tines were only turning as a result of rolling across the ground
