HI Everybody
I'm thinking about buying a Kubota L2402 2wd and was wondering what people who own one or have had experience with them think of them. I have read the threads here so I have a basic understanding as to the tractors age, specs etc.
I am curious though if all the filters especially hydraulic( since the tranny was made by Daedong ) are readily available and also if a new clutch would be readily available if I should need one. I have seen parts manuals available for these but not ops or service manuals and am wondering if anyone has been able to source these.
Thanks in advance for any info you can provide. Gerry

Hello Gerry
I purchased a L2402 2wd from an individual 14 months ago. It's a great little tractor, I only use it for bush hogging. (5ft.) When I bought it, I changed all the fluids, filters & hoses. I got the parts from Larry @ Dixie tractor in Cullman, AL. I think WIX will cross over any of the Kubota filters. As far as a clutch, I haven't had to have one thank goodness. Leonard Sheaffer who post here regularly has parts & manuals. There is a fellow in Canada that has parts & manuals as well. You can get his info by looking at my previous post. Good luck with your tractor, as with anything used you are taking a gamble, I've been really pleased with mine.

Hi Txcycle Thanks for the reply. I haven't bought the tractor yet but likely I will. I've bought 3 grey market tractors so far and they have all been good machines. I'm just a bit paranoid about the 2402 since there is no North American equivilant. I did email the clutch man (tractorclutchesrus@yahoo.com) and he said he could supply a clutch no problem. Said it takes the same clutch as a Mitsubishi 372. This machines only showing 480 hrs so hopefully it won't need one for a long time. I saw that a parts manual is available and will likely buy one. Did you just measure out the amount of fluid you needed for the motor and tranny or were you able to find this info somewhere. Thanks again. Gerry

Gerry I just posted a long reply & lost it somewhere in net land. I used the eyeball method on the fluids. I also have a guy help me do the service that had worked on & ran a 2402 in the past. They are a little uncommon compared to other grey models so if you buy it let me know & we can share resources. Good luck & have a great week. And thanks for the clutch info!

Hi Txcycle You mentioned that you use a 5ft mower on your 2402. Just wondering if the mower is a single blade rotary cutter or a finish type mower. I have a 7ft dual blade rotary cutter that's rated by the manufacturer(Bush Hog) at min 25 pto hp and I'm wondering /hoping that the 2402 can handle it. Bush Hog also rates thier 5ft single blade cutter at min 25 pto.
Hope all is well in Texas. Looks like its still pretty warm down there. I thought that was amusing about your last post and how you lost it on the net. I'm a one finger typer? so it takes me awhile to put together a message. Sometimes I hit the wrong button when I'm done. Drives me crazy. Take care. Gerry

Hello again Gerry,
Yeah I had a looong answer back to you & when I sent send it said "not signed in properly" & it was gone. Great. It was mainly just stuff like the tractor was made for tilling hence the 4 speed PTO etc. I have a 5' shredder, single blade, not a finish mower. It is hot here but not like previous years. We have had 40-50 inches of rain, norm is half that. Lots of grass to mow. Last year I could run in 3rd gear & get a good cut. It's 2nd gear and even first at times this year. I cannot see the machine operating a six foot or larger unit. (unless you put it in one of the 16 granny gears) But since you have the 7 ft I would try it. Just don't plan for any speed records. Let me know how it works out. How much are they asking for the tractor just out of curiosity???

Hi Txcycle The guy is asking $3500 Cdn(approx. $3300 US) but I'm sure he will let it go for a few hundred less and likely will throw in a 60" tiller at that price. Hope all that rain hasn't caused too many problems for people down your way. We had the driest summer around here in 60 years till it started raining again 2 weeks ago. Too late for most of the farmers around here unfortunately. As to me buying the 2402 I still have to sell my Hinomoto E2304 that I bought a couple months ago. Great tractor but I've decided that its not what I need.I better not let my wife see this, she doesn't know I'm selling it yet. She's pretty good about the whole tractor obsession I have but she wonders why I spend so much time on them when there's other things to do. Sometimes I wonder myself. See Ya. Gerry
