Convert mule drawn to 3 point?

Use Paint first to reduce the size of the pictures (using its resize option right at the top just left of center) to around 500 pixels or so wide. Otherwise, they'll be way to big for us to view them from an overall perspective.
Then use Tractorbynet's "Go Advanced" button to get to the photo upload option.
I converted an old implement for a JD M to 3 pt hitch, but I have no idea what this thing is that you're referring to, but I'll bet you can use something similar.

I wouldn't change anything on the planter. Don't change history. 
For use on a 3 point, here is what I would do first. If it didn't work, I would make a light 3-point frame that would bolt to the planter.
Bolt one of these under the planter frame about where the front of the handles attach.
Attach the front tow point of the planter to your fixed drawbar with a connection that allows vertical swinging pivot motion so it can lift and pull. Don't use the top link at all.
