FWIW, my 2210 owner's manual says to NOT wear the seat belt if you have removed the ROPS! So at least someone at Deere recognizes that you might remove it for operation under trees or other low-height conditions.
My dealer said nothing about invalidating the warranty, and my owner's manual doesn't, either. All the dealer would say is that it's not offered and that they could not advise me on how to modify it.
I certainly agree that Deere would not be responsible if a modified component fails.
And I do think the "tube within a tube" approach would be just as strong if not stronger than factory.
