I have a B1750HST BI-Speed with a RC60-B mid mount. After 10 yrs of ownership, I've grown tired of the annual spring and fall changeover from the mower to the dozer blade. I love the mower deck, as it mows great and blows the leaves in the woods in the fall, but I'd like to convert it to a rear mount. I'm not worried about making the 3 pt attachment work, but the problem is the mower gearbox. The mid PTO is at 2455 RPM and the rear is a 2 speed - 540 & 858. So I need to increase the spindle speed to come close to what the mid PTO drives it at. I have thought of going to a machine shop to make me a new set of gears, but I'd bet it would be pricy. Any ideas?

I always figure all things are possible; given enough time and money, but converting a mid-mount mower to a rear 3-point mower is one thing I would expect to take more time and money than it's worth. I would think you'd have to change the entire gearbox (and they're not cheap), change the wheels, get a different driveshaft, build a frame for the top link, etc. Of course, I could be wrong and it wouldn't be the first time./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I agree with Mr. Bird. The cost of conversion most likely exceeds what you would spend for a new basic rear mount deck. Most local machine shops cannot fabricate gears, gearboxes, or drivelines. You would be buying those new and then having a machine / welding shop fabricate the connections to your deck. If you have decided that you must have a rear mount mower, then I recommend you get out your checkbook and take the plunge for a new (or slightly used) one.

I would also check with Kubota as I understand they make some mid mounts that can convert to rear mounts by locking the pantogragh mechanism down. This I would tend to think would only apply to similar RPM PTO's though. If that fails, get a relatively inexpensive single spindle 6' mower they work well on grass and weeds and are reasonably durable. Rat...

I agree with the Bird and Jack sounds like more trouble than it's worth but I may be wrong as well.
Put a good coat of paint on that mower and sell it and then go buy a new rearmount.
