I never wear a ring - besides the mechanical dangers - I have a job where there are times my hands are very close to high voltage. Wife understands and agrees completely. She bought me a fancy ($$) belt buckle instead and told me "this doesn't come off unless I'm in the room - got it?" Yes ma'am - I got it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice mods on the mower Highbeam. I have a similar problem with my wheel attachment. I've rebent it so manytimes it lost all it's strength and then repalced it with a new one. Now it's at that point of either needin replacing or modified.

As to the ring. A friend has melted his twice while welding. He's a nut and just goes and buys a new wedding ring each time it happens.

Good job on the mods,

Eddie

The ring was taken off this morning. I had a feeling that my fingers were swelling overnight. I even had formulated my method of cutting the ring off. I was able to get it off and will leave it off until everything goes back to normal. First time in nearly 10 years I've been ringless.

I bought another 5 lbs of rod yesterday and layed out the next step. Just need to heal up a bit.

That triangular gusset was my first oxy/acetylene cut with my new torch setup. It cuts much cleaner than I expected but I keep having to stop the cut and reheat. My #1 tip might be too small or my method needs refinement.

Welding pipe is bad enough. Welding galvanized pipe is even worse. I know, the poison.

Neverhteless, pretty solid looking welds there Highbeam. Looks like a ton of re-inforcement now. How's that busted up hand doing?

The busted up hand is doing better. No pain pills needed. The hand guy tells me to not hit it on anything, apply pressure to it, or "test" it to see if it is still broken. No cast, no resetting, just leave it be to set up by itself. I'm not going to set around for a month so I resolved to do what I can with minimal assistance from my left hand. So far, so good.

I have seriously overdone the reinforcement. Almost to the point of being silly. I can't wait to mow some of the knee high grass.

They don't need to know "everything", changed the tranny in an '83 Accord one time, by myself, with my right hand in a cast almost to my elbow. Went to get the cast off a week later and it looked pretty good, cleaned it up with a bottle of white shoe polish, don't think he suspected a thing. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Some of the best quality welds were the ones right through the warning stickers.

Joe, I got to tell you, that Lincoln I bought sure is nice and welds great. I changed the fuse in the generator to 30a and it doesn't cut out now (one was bad) so I can run decent beads. To my surprise, I had to run some beads left handed and they came out as good or better than the right handed ones! I also run all beads uphill and your tip helped me,...thanks. I got the knack back after a little practice.

As far as too much much re-inforcement, I don't think it will hurt any. Probably 10 times better than stock now!
