Its likely snapping turtle eggs and when they come out, they commonly leave a hole. Nonetheless, some other critter could have dug out the hole as well.

We get them every couple of years and usually a fox or skunk will dig them up for dinner, all that’s left is some crushed up shell pieces.

The doe and fawns are eating seeds the birds have knocked out of the feeder. Off to the right is a yearling buck, he, we believe, is one of the twins this same doe had last year. The other twin now has her own fawn which we get to see on occasion.
