The acre+ I put in every year never last that long.My quail sure appreciate the sunflowers I plant once snow falls. Me, I love to see the contortions they go through trying to reach the seeds on those downturned heads!

By September the Finches and others have pretty much stripped them all.
I mow the stalks because there isn't much left and this gives the ground feeders a chance to get a little something.
The first time planting sunflowers 30 years ago the intent was to feed the birds over the winter.
They've never made it that long.
