My quail sure appreciate the sunflowers I plant once snow falls. Me, I love to see the contortions they go through trying to reach the seeds on those downturned heads!

The acre+ I put in every year never last that long.
By September the Finches and others have pretty much stripped them all.
I mow the stalks because there isn't much left and this gives the ground feeders a chance to get a little something.
The first time planting sunflowers 30 years ago the intent was to feed the birds over the winter.
They've never made it that long.

We have one that show up this year in the garden... have not seen a chipmunk since!

I often leave my Yamaha Kodiak and hike up canyons no wheels can traverse. Don't have to worry about someone stealing it, this is who watches over the ATV while I'm gone...rattles are buzzing so fast they are just a blur in this pic.

That would have to be a small chipmonk for this little snake to eat it. Imagine this one is more about eating bugs and small frogs.
Only way he could bite me is if I poked him with my pinky

I had a nice, neat pile of sand in our back yard left over from swimming pool installation. I went back there one day and the pile was almost leveled. Little tracks all over it. What the heck? Soon after, I saw 4 baby foxes going nuts on the sand pile, playing and zooming around. Pretty comical.
