Cool Running TC\'s: Is it only the big boys?

Well after reading the no heat & the several other threads regarding cold running TC's. I thought it was only the class III (35, 40 & 45) that had the problem. But I thought I'd ask just to be sure.

Is my TC18 at risk? This winter the temp needle only gets to 1/4 way up the scale. I can see a change within 5 minutes of starting the tractor.

After running for 10 - 15 minutes, my Class II Boomer's (TC25D) temp gauge is right in the middle, just like it is in the summer. The gauge starts in the middle if I remember to plug in the block heater. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

From what the posts here said, the cooling system design flaw was only on the class III Boomers. Others should be unaffected.

That doesn't mean that you might not have a problem, however. I don't know what normal is for a Class I. My TC33D got up to just below mid range a few days ago when outside temp was in the teens.

If you never question it -I guess it doesn't matter and I would never have known had I not wanted a gauge on the standard tc-Once the gauge was on It was obvious we had some type of problem-sounds like your o.k. If you have some movement =the tstat is probably fine,you can also feel the lower hose-CARFULLY to see how warm it is,should be nice and toasty to the touch-Just frustrating to have a new tractor-and not be right. Our odl farmalls & John Deeres make heat in 3-5 minutes each & every time-just goes to show ya

I love the MMM. Cuts great. The rear discharge is the bomb! You can get close to obstacles on both sides.

When I first got the tractor, they had to wait for the MMM to come in, so they loaned me a LandPride 60" Rear Finish Mower. It cut great, but was a bear to manuver. It added 50% to the overall length of the machine! Plus it made the front end of my little machine too light on hills.

The one test is extremely simple. Just pinch the coolant drain line from the radiator with a vice grip or other tool. I threw a little duct tape on the spot just to make sure the jaws didn't cut the hose.

My tractors needle does not move at all. The dealer says it is normal just as long as the needle does not go up to red. Is that right?

WRONG, WRONG WRONG. Dealer is giving you a line. Everyone with a TC 35, 40 45 D-series tractor over the past two years reports a mid-range reading, if the system is functioning correctly. Start by simply pinching off the radiator drain line to check. The engine should warm in 10 to 15 minutes and the entire block should feel HOT to the touch in about 20-30.
