I have the Stihl BG65 I think and it wasn't cheap. Would love a cordless blower but then I might not use the Stihl and let it sit too much. I do already have a big collection of 20v tools. How is the air volume and velocity with the 20v Dewalt? Impressive? Say yes and I will pull the trigger.

It's no BR 550 but will lift a small mass of wet oak leaves the size of a dinner plate. I had bought it for my MIL but after 1 years use gave it up (she's 93).

This (not me)

About summarizes my type of usage.

I am quite impressed with my 40 Volt Oregon Trimmer. And it's funny because it was a freebie thrown in with the purchase of the 40v pole saw. The trimmer apparently just didn't find favor with the scrapers.

Has anyone tried the DEWALT DCB1800B Portable Power Station?
The 1800 Watt Portable Power Station™ and Simultaneous Battery Charger allows for AC power in remote locations for convenient portable power. Able to run most corded tools, it provides 1800 Watts (15 amps) continuous power and 3600 Watts peak power. The DCB1800B runs on four DEWALT 20V MAX* batteries (including FLEXVOLT), and for high power applications, four 20V MAX* 3.0Ah DEWALT Batteries (DCB200) or higher amp hour are recommended to provide the best results. Not only can the 1800 Watt Portable Power Station™ power a corded tool remotely, but it also becomes a multi-port simultaneous charger for up to four DEWALT 20V MAX* Batteries (including FLEXVOLT) when plugged into a wall outlet via extension cord (batteries and extension cord sold separately).

The Stihl is another battery platform, a much more expensive platform.
I looked briefly at other battery operated blowers but most had a fairly small end and did not seem to be able to lift wet leaves.

For example, as much as I disliked getting another battery platform I've bought two of the B&D 12" chain saws. At $110@ w/ battery & charger.

How do you like the little battery chain saws? Have thought about getting one for the occasional fallen limb. Hate cranking the Stihl for one or two cuts.

I’ve got a 12 volt drill and I’ve got a buddy that has several of the 12 volt Milwaukee pieces. They might serve a purpose but they don’t have the power or the run time for what I do. The one 12 volt tool I would like is the hand sized sawzall for plumbing work.

The B&D 12" chain saw is 40V.
I originally bought one for my son who needs to cut firewood where a regular chainsaw makes too much noise. Target had them on sale for $110 w/ battery and charger. I was so pleased with it I bought one for myself.

At my house in Virginia I've 5 mature hardwoods that frequently shed branches up to 3" diameter. I've also had to trim some stuff away from the house which required me to get about 20' up on a ladder. I used to use my Stihl 021 for those applications, but I've moved that to Mississippi. It does very well for those uses. In Mississippi I'll pull it out if I'm trying to cut something I can't safely reach with a Stihl.

I recently bought an Echo PPT 280, basically a 28CC chainsaw on a 17 foot stick. That will probably replace much of my ladder application. But for times when I have to get up in a tree to cut a limb the battery operated is the way to go, instant on/off seems much less dangerous.

Only occasionally have I "run" the battery down, because most jobs I've attempted with it were limited. I did try to cut down one 8" 30' tall Sassafras. It pooched out.

I'm with Makita right now after giving my old DeWalt stuff away. Too bulky and (right or wrong) I felt they were made for HD/Lowes and thier primarily homeowner customers. I have not tried their "new" lineup but know framing crews that no longer carry a generator or extension cords. They've gone DeWalt in a big way. Time will tell.
