Today I had to stand on a tall extension ladder and cut through sheathing in order to install some new windows. A cordless saw is ideal for this kind of work, with two exceptions: To plunge cut, you need to retract the lower saw guard...hard to do when you want to hold onto the ladder with one hand. Finally thought of using the big yellow spring clip to keep the lower guard retracted. Secondly, for many of the cuts, having to press the red safety lock so I could depress the saw trigger was very hard on my arthritic right hand, so I drilled a tiny hole through the safety lock and inserted and bent a T-pin to hold the lock open. When the job was done, I removed the T-pin again.

I wish I had thought of the spring clip trick in the past, as I am always using a speed square for cutting with the saw and the blade guard would frequently hang up if I was only trimming off a small width of wood.

I just got mine from ebay yesterday($14 +10 shipping) but the blade was mangled. Any suggestions on blades, is the oem one fine or should I look at other brands.
I really like the 19.2 series.

I really like the 19.2 series.

I have been very happy with the thin kerf OEM blades that come on the Craftsman 19.2 volt saws. About once a year I remove them from the saws and use a small wire wheel chucked in a drill to remove any pitch or build up on the blade teeth and that makes them cut better.

I have two tips....

- Watch online for sales; I have usually got batteries on online specials in two packs for less than the box stores. I usually always have one in a tool, and one on a charger
- Get the car charger. I have the DeWalt 18V charger that works from a cigar lighter plug. No idea how they charge pump 12V to 18V, but they do. And it works well. Again, I try to always have a battery on a charger...
- Mark your batteries so you know how old they are
- Get the flashlight to go with your saw. I have found the 18V DeWalt and the 9V Makita flashlights to be great for camping, fishing etc...
