What do you think this might be worth? I can't get much info on it, but it appears to maybe be a Ryan. I can pick it up for $850.

That would be a fair price around here as long as the spoons are in good order. There just doesn't seem to be many around to buy, I looked for months for mine

You must have a large area to aerate to require that beast.

Given the hydraulics, size, and condition of the bearings and spoons it looks to be a decent price.

Those look like John Deere spoons from a distance so may be able to be replaced as needed.

Verify that you can get the spoons and other supplies for it. I work for a park's dept. and we have to replace the spoons (tines) annually on our two aerators.

Would you know how many acres you can aerate before having to replace the spoons?

That type are worth a couple hundred here at auction unless Americans are there, then they go higher. And with the price of scrap now they are also getting scarce. My last 2 went for scrap, but I think I still have a couple left.

Thanks for the responces guys.

I have 4 acres to aerate yearly. I may do friends and family on occasion.

It does look allot like a John Deere I have seen. It may be the same MFG.

She sais there is a 5 gallon buked of spoons that go with it. I'm gueesing they are all used.

I was thinking this type may work better than a 3pt hitch type. I'd probably hook it up to the tractors rear remotes.

We aerate 162 acres every two weeks about 9 to 10 months out of the year. The ground is the black clay. We are pulling cores about 6" deep on our best attempts, 4" is more typical. The fields are used for soccer, so they are very compacted. We do not aerate just for the turf, the aerating helps with the impact attenuation for the players. This helps with making the ground softer for the players when they fall.

If it was my aerator I wouldn't change them out as frequently. Our mechanic doesn't want to repair them, it's easier for him to replace them annually than make the repairs. We could probably go every other year and get the same results with minor repairs to the spoons.

Thank for responding. I don't remember ever seeing the maintenance guys aerate the soccer fields around here when my kids played.

Hey GWDixon:
Your picture of a small aerator -- I have one just like it. But I'm confused: your unit has a 232 model number. Mine has a red paint coat that was overpainted with JD green, and no model number. Wonder if a 3rd party mfgr made them for 2 different OEM's like Woods making its own stuff plus under contract to JD??? Whadda you know about it?
Jim
