Core Aerator

I've got the same unit as Ronjhall, right down to the same concrete block arrangement.

I've said this before but it bears repeating...weight is not a substitute for moist soil. If you try to put enough weight on an aerator to make it pull 3" plugs from dry ground, you'll probably end up breaking something.

FWIW, I can tell no difference in my grass after aerating for 2 1/2 years. I know it's supposed to be good for it but I can't tell any difference, at least not yet.

CP1969, perhaps it's time for a soil test, have a looksee at whats going on under your lawn.

Would anyone be willing to share a price range on the Woods unit?

Also - I have been reading about Leinbach - opinions? I like the idea of
a water-filled core for weight - but I am sure I maybe overlooking the downside?

I "only" have a 2350 so I am concerned about weight on the 3ph...

I have a soil test done every year. I'm not sure how reliable those tests are, though. One year, I was told the ground was acidic and needed lime. I never put any lime on, but the next year the acidity was OK, but potash (I think?) was low. So I brewed up a custom blend of two different fertilizers to put the right amount of potash on without exceeding the Nitrogen application rate.

I'll give it some more time.

Me too, I'd be interested to know a price range for Woods unit like a PL60 or a PL72.

I purchased my Woods PL60 last year for $1800. plus tax. It listed for over $2000. and they wouldn't take a penny less than the $1800.

I paid 2 thousand for our pl60.

I have a Midwest 60" that is amazing. No matter how many people have used its, the unit has been viewed as a killer core aerator. Perfect construction and extremely well built.
