Dragoneggs one of our fellow TBNers travels to China a lot. What say yee Mark? Are you under quarantine?

Ron
Sure call me out as a source! :D. Actually I did more or less quarantined myself for a couple weeks after returning from Singapore Feb 13th. I wanted to be home for Valentine's Day. On my way home my wife told me she was quarantining me saying she wouldn't be home when I got there and would be at her sister's place in Phoenix for two weeks so I would be on my own.

She was only kidding and was home to greet me. I did come down with a cold and this was a bit concerning but no fever at all. This was 8 days before the first USA case was announced here in Washington State. I have been quite aware of the situation going back to early January when I found out the hotel in Singapore I was to stay at, had someone that contracted the virus. I witnessed first hand what Singapore and Japan were doing far before the US started publicly taking precautions. I have long time business friends in just about every country in Asia and converse with them regularly. Very tough times for a lot of people, personally and professionally due to this virus.

Since my return I have canceled a trip to Korea and Japan, two trips to Europe and today, a trip to Boston. These trips were to attend aerospace conferences that have all been postponed. Since I have been pretty much homebound and not seeing customers I've sported a beard for the past month... never gone more than a week. It itches now and is way too white for my liking... I was combing it as that was soothing. Okay TMI... Today while my wife was grocery shopping, I shaved the whole thing off including my mustache/goatee that I have had for more than a decade, maybe two. I feel naked. And I shocked her upon her return!

I have a chronic cough due to allergies so now if I go to town I get suspicious stares. It is giving me an excuse to spend some more time in my. shop. But no Ron, I haven't got to the Top n Tilt install.

Mark, sorry I outed you. As I assumed you have stopped traveling. Microsoft (my son works there) has stopped all travel and most are working from home. Wed just cancelled a couple planned air trips.

I have an Argon cylinder if you are still interested. Send me a personal.

Ron

This TP hysteria is weird. I read somewhere (here?) that an employee of a firm that makes the stuff said there's no shortage at the source. It's just that panic buying has created temporary scarcity in the stores. Soon the stores will get re-supplied and this minor part of the chaos will be forgotten.

Gloom and doom...
Don’t think so ... it’s apparently just an accurate report of some news related to the subject of this thread.

... and tinfoil hats as well...:)
Nah ... The Hill got rid of the guy that was doing the tinfoil hat stuff.

Most of whatever veggies and stuff I have are either canned or frozen. I usually only go to town once or twice a month and don't always hit grocery stores. 'Fresh' won't keep long, so I only get what I can use in a few days, which isn't much.

Wagtail, sounds like you all have a plan going on for protecting your business base. That's good.

My daughter is somewhere in the Northern Territory looking for work,

She picked a bad time trying to extend her Visa.

Maybe not... under the circumstances (lack/restriction of overseas travel) I believe that that work visa extensions are being considered.

Why?

We've been asking why people are doing this idiotic task, but this is the first time I've seen anyone admit to it publicly.

You need to consider why you call it "idiotic". I've 3 houses and an apartment. I think I've got at least a 2 year supply plus I can give it away to some relatives, like my 94 yr old MIL who just ran out.

My Grandfather was a Mormon and insisted on a 1 year supply (if possible) of everything that could be stored long term (see Food Storage for One Year) . Thus during times of supply disruptions we didn't run out.

Perhaps in your view the entire Mormon religion is "idiotic".
