Apparently some people in big cities are flushing clorox wipes and other treated sanitizing wipes down the toilet and causing all sorts of problems for the guys that keep big city sewers running. Clogging up pipes and pumps. I am sure no one here would do that, but these tough fibrous wipes don't disintegrate in water like toilet paper does. I suspect people are wiping down surfaces much more often and some are afraid to throw them in the trash where they belong but instead are flushing them. They need to stop that. The list of unintended consequences of this thing just go on and on. Who would have thunk it.

If you look at the definition...well down the list you will see this:
PANIC:

a sudden widespread fright concerning financial affairs that results in a depression of values caused by extreme measures for protection of property (such as securities)

Yeh right

There was some talk that ACE blood pressure medicines may increase the likelihood of getting the virus. Meds ending in -pril for one.

Oh great!, like lacinapril . . . :confused2: d@mn.

When you are out and about getting groceries, gas etc make a point of smiling and thanking that cashier or person who is now at risk but still willing to work.

Yep and wave at the truck drivers.

We have our first death here in Missouri now. The person was transported to my daughters hospital in Columbia from a 911 call, she tested positive Tuesday and was dead by Wednesday. Apparently pretty far along in the course of the disease. She was in her 60's and her disease was contracted from international travel. 6 responders have now been quarantined.

Bummer.

There certainly is panic going on. Just look at the cleared shelves in grocery stores, gun and ammunition sales, etc... That's called panic buying.

He didn't say riots. He said panic. It is panic. And he's correct.

Yeah, I'm afraid I have to agree. I hate to admit we as a society would react like that. But we are.

All those people snatching everything from the shelves are just being prudent...

I don't understand why you are struggling to understand that Moss.....

Is the need from FEAR or SURVIVAL? Pretty big gray area depending how a person thinks.

Buying a grocery cart full of TP has nothing at all to do with survival. Nothing.

Yup. First thing I had to do at the ranch after Dad passed was dig up and replace the entire septic field. His caregiver in his final year (a RN student with free rent in the guest cabin) couldn't be persuaded to not flush paper towels down the toilet.

I discovered the septic tank was plugged near solid and leaking in its vicinity. After getting it pumped I discovered the outflow was totally plugged so that had to be replaced.

I now have a note in the house and guest cabin bathrooms: 'We need the natural bacteria in the septic system to stay healthy, to do their job and decompose stuff. NO bacterial soap or wipes please. Please nothing into the septic system that they can't decompose'.

Now pumping at 6 year intervals, the pumper tech says we are doing fine.

I wonder if urban sewer systems are going to be the next crisis.

James, I would not think about flushing such down my septic . . . ;)
