Yeah, that's not comforting as I woke this morning with a sore throat and mild aches. Been nice knowing this forum. Never even got to purchase a tractor!

Wal Mart has an ad out for immediate hiring of 500 truck drivers. What I was told is that the bottleneck is getting goods from the warehouses to the stores. Also read that regulations on hours for drivers have been relaxed so they can spend more time on the road.

I think Italy's problems were caused by not stopping travel to and from China in the early days of the crisis. I know Trump was criticized for doing that but apparently he was listening to people who knew what was going to happen. Saw a picture this morning of a convoy of Italian army trucks carrying caskets to a crematorium to be burned. Also they have made doctors of 10,000+ final year medical students that will not have to take an exit test. Just sent them out to work,

We have instructed my 95-year old mother and 93-year old father in law to stay home and not let anybody come in to their house. Threatened to confiscate their car keys if they go to a store.

I was told DOT has pulled the requirement that limited the number of hours that a trucker can drive before down time and maybe most check points. I am not sure if CDL testing is even an option today. A local driving instructor since the driving school is closed was going back on the road to help out with the driver shortage in the USA. People can not just drop what they are doing to bottle and haul water. I am thankful I live with water wells everywhere besides the one in our yard.

I asked my friend about that. He said you have to be hauling a specific load of critical supplies designated by Department of Transportation. Does not apply to all OTR trucks.

It has been asked here, "why is Germany and Italy so different". It seems Italy has many older people and many healthcare workers. It sounds more like a nursing home than Germany that still has a strong manufacturing base with more younger people. No disrespect for either one but those two countries are quite different.

Tell me why the Germans have so few dead people.? Tell me why Italy has so many.

I will take a shot at answering this one. An article weeks ago in the Wall Street Journal explained that Italy has the lowest number of hospital beds and physicians per capita of any European nation. The US has a higher rate than any European nation. Combine that low rate with no border control and the disaster happening now was predicted weeks ago.

Disclaime: I read the WSJ article only once so I donNt remember specific rates but the article痴 point was Italy has fewer health resources and open borders so it was expected to be a humanitarian disaster.

Not to downplay the seriousness of this crisis, but perhaps it is waking up folks to how dependent we are on China (and other countries).. perhaps rethink some things that should be made in USA (like critical prescription drugs, food, etc).

But aren't all of the European Union Countries open borders? From what I have read the Italian health system is totally overwhelmed.

Yes, both Russia and China are very afraid of anything destabilizing the regime, Putin is working hard to create external enemies to hide behind. We have had a quite open border against russia, but who knows when it will be open again, Russia has become more closed even befor this crisis.

You are probably right on the border part. Still the article痴 point was Italy has fewer health resources than other countries. Ok one that low resource rate with no containment effort and the disaster was predicted.

When the US started restricting travel there were some objections but it appears to be the right action. Basically slow the progression so resources aren稚 overwhelmed.

So sad for Italy.

You may be right but what I read indicated the opposite. The key seems to be to slow the progression so resources aren’t overwhelmed.

Geez, hope they are right on Losartin. My wife and I are both on it. And are prescriptions were just refilled on a quarterly basis.
