Coronavirus update: Job losses could total 47 million, unemployment rate of 32%, Fed says

If this thing take the 6-18 months forecast to play out we will be a changed world.

Today in Murray the traffic was heavy and fast. Lots of farming supplies was moving too. After 2 weeks in this weather and in a rural area there is much to do. We are two weeks away from seeing a large number of COVID-19 cases they say. Hopefully it is not too bad.

Something that got my attention were two 100% testing areas somewhere. One found 30% of those symptom free tested positive and another one found 80% of those symptom free tested positive. I expect this is the key to our high spread rate.

If someone as powerful as POTUS misinterprets your work and urges rapid adoption in a press conference, a responsible scientist issues a clarification. If you know your work is being acted upon prematurely then an ethical scientist doesn’t sit on their hands and enjoy the free publicity. If they do then it is their fault.

Fauci was correct in deferring action. So was the head of the FDA (before he folded). The Marseille group should have backed them.
I think we are going to have to agree to disagree.

If I put myself in the place of the scientists trying to find an effective treatment for a devastating pandemic, I can't say I would have done anything differently. If I had something I thought could help others, I would do everything possible to try to get it out, and make others aware as soon as possible that there might be a promising solution.

I will end this with a version of my earlier question. What are you doing to help?

I think we would all do better to seek solutions as opposed to trying to tear others down (which is why this discussion started in the first place). It's easy to cast blame, point fingers, and deride the good work of others. It takes honest introspection to get past our own personal biases and prejudices, recognize what is good, and seek to contribute to it as opposed to tear it down.

A choir practices...out of 60 people, 45 sick and 2 dead. Did they think they were immune? Nursing homes around the country are infected. We are only getting started with this mess.

2 Choir Members Died Weeks After Rehearsal amid Coronavirus Spread | PEOPLE.com

At the church I attend, we have a lot of good people. Many are not critical thinkers. There is a huge tendency to å*µroup think? There is also a high degree of trust in the pastor and a desire to conform. They are called sheep for a reason.

I suspect a number of those choir members had second thoughts about attending the function but did not have the courage to bow out.

It bothers me when some say, 的t is in God痴 hands and God痴 will?...when God has not directed man痴 choices.

With this lockdown neither my wife nor I have been in public much and are deferring showers to a large extent. Why bother?

Every now and then we ask each other if we stink.

It seems critical thinking is out of vogue in many organizations. Perhaps as people get farther from the family farm structure the less thinking they are forced to do. Self evident is a strange concept these days. Not sure as to why?

COVID-19

My State wasn't there.

(Sorry, just a gentle reminder that this is an international/global website :))

-----------------------------------

Tassie (or the Australian State of Tasmania) unfortunately had its second COVID-19 death today. A man in his 80s who was a returned passenger from the cruise ship RUBY PRINCESS. This brings Australia's death toll up to 19. There are currently 69 cases in my State.

I'll be going into town tomorrow for my weekly mail/pharmaceuticals/petrol/groceries. I still don't need any TP, but I'll certainly have a look. ;)
