Our local paper reported that the hospital thinks the peak here is 6 to 10 weeks out.

I work in the power generation industry and the pandemic has hit right at the time many power plants are requiring outage and overhaul to insure readiness and reliability for the peak months. Some of the work can be postponed, but much more cannot and is critical. I'm waiting to hear if my two scheduled projects in AZ and NV are still on for the next 3 weeks. I can't say I'm too thrilled about traveling far from home with the ever changing travel restrictions, shelter at home and quarantines. Needless to say, I'll drive rather than fly.

There's going to be some long discussions today about how necessary this is and how it can be accomplished as safely as possible.

COVID-19 May Be Transmitted Through the Eye, Report Finds

This talks about it as a possibility. Since he was an ophthalmologist and this method of transfer sounds reasonable in a medical sense I can see him holding that view. I expect we will learn there are many ways it can spread.
Mucous membranes are pretty standard points of entry for viruses and bacteria. This is part of why we should stop touching our faces (and other stuff) without washing first.

Thank you for posting that link!

I've been through a number of change of command ceremonies...only one I can recall cheering was for Commander James H Flatley (of VF-31)

There's a lot of crazy going on...

That carrier skipper still did the right thing and the Navy upper echelon made a bad decision in relieving him from command. Wouldn't be the first bad decision by the Navy Brass. The skipper was looking out for his personnel...that's one of a skipper's responsibility

The captain was fully aware of what happens to just about any military officer that breaks protocol especially when they know that the media will be involved...the term "military intelligence" is an oxymoron...

In no way does him being relieved of his command validate asserted vilifying comments by ignorant laymen...

I don't know if you guys follow the stock market. This epidemic is hammering the stock market. Still a lot of people are waiting for the moment to jump back in. One guy I like is Mohamed El-Erian. Very smart guy. He said today on cnbc:

Calling a specific bottom is difficult task, El-Erian said. But he said he will feel confident the market is beginning to form a bottom when one of two things happen.

“Either we get a really sharp fall or, alternatively, we get good news on the medical side. That good news is starting to happen, but hasn’t reached critical mass,” he argued.
