Crunching the numbers now that I really do need to upgrade. Owning the tractor that I now have hasn't cost much at all. Using a conservative value of what I expect to sell it for, it appears that owning cost me about $650 a year. If I were to give it away, the cost would only be $1350 a year. I doubt that I can repeat that on the next tractor due to my age and the price of new machines. I almost never rent. It really has to be a tool with a one time use for me. Something like a trencher or man-lift. I hadn't planned to go with a new machine this time but I simply am not finding anything with the specs that I need within three hundred miles. It gets expensive driving to look at other people's junk.
