Correct width of Box Blade ?

/ Correct width of Box Blade ? #11
I have a 3830 HST, I had this same question a month or two ago, I bought the 84" Land Pride BB, it has been working good so far, my front bucket is 72", It took some learning but I am getting better with it now. I like the width for getting next to the building and such. My tractor pulls it with no trouble at all.

when i bought my box blade "Armstrong brand" it had a tag on it that i almost pulled off, and it said horse power per foot rating, and acording to Armstong it is 5 horse power one per ft.
I bought a 55 hp tractor and i only got a 6 ft box blade, if i new that before, i would have got a 7 ft, that way i could cover all my tracks, my tractor tire width is 78-79" ,but i am ok with it, hope this helps you out.

Thanks for all the information! It's really good to hear of someone with the 84" box blade setup with the same tractor - that alleviates my concerns.

Question: Is there value in using a BB the same width as your loader or are others of the opinion that a wider BB is better for almost all applications and just deal with a smaller loader when moving the loosened material?
