Corroded Battery for me

I now join the ranks of you guys that have had a corroded battery in your Deere. I have been trying to keep an eye out for after reading on here how many people with new Deeres have had corrosion problems. Friday I pulled the grill and there was the white stuff. I took it to the shop Monday and got it back this afternoon. Very little got on the frame, they said I caught it early. They cleaned the affected area and repainted and put in a new battery. My 4310 has around 130 hours and I will be watching it closer now. They said they put in a different type battery but I am still leery. First hint of corrosion I will buy an Optima battery.

Mine will be going in in the next few weeks. The battery leaked a little bit on the heat exchanger for the transmission. I'm planning on getting an Optima now to avoid any hassles later. The transmission's heat exchanger is $175 so the less leakage the better.

Yes, I am in the same position.

My battery and hydraulic cooler were replaced last November with 500 hrs. on the 4310 and now I am watching it very closely for any more leakage. If there is any at all, in goes the Optima.

FYI, a thin paste of baking soda and water will neutralize the acid. I changed the batteries in my truck prior to them leaking as well. It's not unique to the battery that Deere uses as there are a lot of others that do the same...

Like everyone else I was keeping a very close eye on my battery at 50 hrs I removed the battery for inspection /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif all looked good no signs of any leaking /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif however at 77 hrs just 27 hrs later BAM!! acid city /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif after complaining to John Deere about it My dealer was glad to replace all my sheet medal up front ... After I got her home I tore it back down to inspect and undercoat it all (Great job !!) oh yea!! you can bet I own a optima battery now /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif just wish I would have replace the battery before this happen ... ( you know !! this can't happen to me I keep her to clean and take real good care of her /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)just glad I bought Green they made it right /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Add another 990 to the list, mine has only 90 hrs and the
positive tterminal corroded to almost nothing replaced the connector and battery

Just curious, what type/ brand replacement battery did they give you?

does any one here have a 4230 or around their with two 12v batteries? because ours drained out and our charger just flicks on and off when we try to charge it

Mine's in the shop right now getting the corroded parts changed out, I'll see what kind of battery comes back in it this week.
