It might be expensive, but if you could get a "coupling" for that big sewer pipe, it might be worth it in installation effort and cheaper than buying a culvert pipe. Another thought is that if you have a complete section with a "bell" or gasketed end, you could cut it in half, then reverse the side with (male) tapered end, setting the (female) gasketed end on to it reducing the weight that you'll be lifting in half. Get yourself a can of the "lube" that is used for sure! You suprised me with the weight of it, must be pressure rated?
Rusty, It is belled and I do have the gasket and it's a good idea and would solve the weight problem, but I had thought that if someone needed a real heavy duty pipe, I'd sell it to them for whatever it cost me for lighter pipe plus maybe $50 or $100, as the one I have was about $135 per ft several years ago. They'd be getting a heck of a deal and I'd be getting an easier to handle pipe. I'll probably do it if I wind up keeping the pvc pipe.

Piloon,
I put all the work in mounting that reverser to move the blower up front and used it a couple times in 8 - 10 inches of snow just to try it and haven't had to use it since. I wound up this year putting a 9 ft blade with an angled wing up front and the blower on the back. Doesn't take long to clear 350 ft that way. I plan on adding a wing on the other side this year and do 12-13 ft at a pass. Back up far enough to pick up a load, carry it to the bottom and push it over the bank. I like your thought about the barrel around the pipe but if I use the 3 ft pvc, I'm going to have a tough time finding a 4 ft barrel. Also on the carpeting to replace geotextile, I use it as much on walkways in the garden but I have heard that some of the chemicals in the carpeting can leach out and cause problems that I don't want in well water.

Thanks for the info on the hdpe/chlorine. I took a quick look and will check it out further tonight. I wouldn't have a chlorine problem except when we treat it after completion. My main concern is that I can't find much info on possible toxic elements leaching out of the non certified pvc/edpm pipe into the well.
The 3 x 7 ft concrete (rejected/seconds) pipe that I looked at were, I believe they said were 5200# each and the last time I bought the rings, they were pricey. I do have some geotextile in the barn left over from the old days but don't want to go to that extreme. I'd just get an excavator in and do it, probably cheaper that hauling the gravel.
