Cost of 1300 feet of electrical utilities, private poles

Our property is in SE Ohio and Ohio Power is the provider. We had power brought back 1300' to our cabin in 1998. They charged me a bit over $7000 to set a total of 5 poles and run the wires and transformer. They connected the wires to the cabin and down the mast but did not turn it on (I think all they had to do was install the fuses and meter) until I got the breaker box in.

Now the good part. They needed $750 down and a signed contract to get started. My electric bill was set at $150 per month minimum for 4 years. If I used UNDER $150.00 a month, OK. If I used say $175 worth of electric in a given month, my bill was $175.

I thought that was a deal.

As suggested contact your utility. They should give you a price. It can vary from utility to utility. Load can play a factor depending on type of service.

Like mentioned, contact your utility for a estimate. Threre is lots of variance depending on ground conditions etc.

Price locally is 1-3000 per pole with one pole free. If others join onto your line , your supposed to get a rebate back.

In Arkansas we get the first 800' above ground for free. Below ground service is the cost difference between above ground and below ground. I dug the 640' of trench and installed the conduit. The electric company charged about $900 including a ground mount transformer.

When we built the cabin in 1962 the power company ran the line from one Ponderosa Pine to the next and mounted the meter to the last pine tree...

47 years and the line is still in place... I guess that's not an option for you?
