Just comming up on my 50 hr service. My dealer is quoting me $280. Does this seem high? I thought I remember reading here that the average is $225?

I just paid $188 for a 300 hour service on one of my tractors, it included pick up and delivery.

This is something that varies from dealer to dealer, region to region, model to model.
Does the tractor have a loader, a MMM, a hoe etc.
Some dealers change all filters, some don't. Some change front axle oil, some don't. Not saying that the less expensive place doesn't do everything, just pointing out variables.
On LB and LK's we put a new filter on the hydraulics, even tho the filter is reusable from the factory but there is usually alot of little bits interwoven into the SS fabric. We replace it, just for the customers peace of mind. We do tell customers this ahead of time. DK/CK's are not reusable.
Some dealers use service as something to keep the mechanic busy in off times, or for the appentice to get his feet wet on etc.
Too many variables to really name a rock solid price accrossed the board, let alone acrossed the country.

Tractor has a backhoe and FEL. Dealer said he will be replacing all filters, draining all oil, and front axle and greasing all points.
From what I read so far...sounds reasonable...

Personally I think that is an OUTRAGEOUS price for that kind of service. There is virtually no physical labor involved.

It is very reasonable. Supplies will add up quickly. Considering the amounts of oil that changing the backhoe/tractor hydraulics/engine oil/front end oil will take. Then add in the filters. Very reasonable.
