Cost of mid PTO on Grand L

Hi,

I'm still working the numbers on a Grand L and I have a question.

When I asked about adding a mid PTO to an rops L4240 I was told that it would cost $3000 to add. The salesman said that in order to save money, Kubota does not include the internal gears to connect to the pto cassette and the tractor has to be split to put them in.

Is this the case or an I being taken for a ride??

I can't believe that it cost's that much. Mid PTO's do require a kit to add the gears but $3000??
I have been thinking of adding a mid PTO to my Deere 3320, cost for the kit is like $600. People get them installed for a total of $800.
I don't know the Kubota but it does sound like BS to me. Try the service dept. of a different dealer and see if you can get around the sales dept for a real answer.

Not sure about that but I had a mid pto on my BX23 and a B3200. Never used it on the B3200 but ordered it just in case. Now I have a Grand L 3540 and when I was doing the build I thought about adding the mid pto, why just because I thought it could be used. Long story short, Did not add to 3540 and glad I did not. What would I use it for? Loader stays on in winter for busting back snow banks or ice banks. Three point will run back blade of 74" snow blower just like the 3200. So why would and what would you use a mid pto on a large tractor like the Grand L for?

I got the mid PTO on my 4240 and was told it was a lot of work but it was a $600 ish option, I didn't get charged any labor to install it. I would check around, maybe another Kubota dealer will not charge you labor to install options.

For that wonderful 74" front snow blower. I live on the side of a mountain in NH snow country, my driveway is about 1000 feet long. Because of multiple injuries throughout my life, I have neck issues and cannot look over my shoulder to use a rear mounted blower.

I would suggest HST and not to go too much smaller than the 4240. Last year was the first year I would wait until the storm was over before clearing the snow. There was at least once when the snow was deeper than the height of the blower and I had to go very slow or the blower would start to push the snow like a blade. I would also suggest adding some lights to the ROPS, I have two extra ones facing forward and one facing the rear. Even though you are not using a rear blower it's still nice to see where you're backing up. I haven't mounted them yet but will this summer.

THe L30's did not need to be split. Just a port opened up and the casting bolted on.
