I bought 4 yards of top soil. Cost me $50/yard.
Hopefully, I'm not buying any mulch this year. I've a HUGE pile made out of shredded leaves taken from silly town people who leave them at the curb plus lots of shredding/chipping of limbs this winter. Cut down on the amount I needed to mulch my garden rows by growing buckwheat as a cover crop.
Still, my shredded/chipped mulch isn't free, with diesel at $3.90/gallon.
I wrote both my congressman and senator and told them that something needs to be done to get people to buy the new diesel cars that are coming out. Continue to screw the truckers with more tax on diesel, but give some rebates to private citizens who use diesel. The representative wrote we back and sent me a bunch of stuff about how he's backing alternative fuels and all. I'm gonna write him again. He didn't say anything about giving us immediate relief. All the stuff he's talking about is future stuff.
