I've started my diesel car at -22 F outside. Plug the heater hose heater in about 1 hour before I want to start it. You should be able to run off one of those 24 hour light timers if you need to regularly start it every day. Otherwise, just go out there and plug it in about an hour before you need it. It's silly to run it 24 hours.

Again. i have to agree with all these guys. When i plan on using the tractor on a very cold day, below 10 degrees F, I'll plug in the tractor about an hour before and she'll start up fine every time.
