I just bought a Gradall telehandler. Now my problem is getting it from the Louisville, KY area to Seligman, AZ. One freight hauler quoted me $3400. Is that reasonable?
It's about 20 ft long, 8 ft wide, about 7 ft tall and weighs about 26,000 lbs.

Seems right to me. We had a House boat that weighed about 40,000# brought from KY to IN and it was about 1/2 that but it was also 56' long and 14' wide.

Good rule of thumb is $3 per mile, maybe more with todays fuel prices. Just make sure there are no other hidden charges like loading and unloading fees, tolls, fuel sure charges, ect.

My guess is he is actually giving you a very good price because he can get another load on his trailer since yours will only fill 1/2 of it.

I estimate it is about 1750 miles, so that's closer to $2 a mile. I better jump on it.

I checked uShip. Average quote is about $4100. Low is $2500; high is $5900.
Included in the list is a 2003 Gehl Telehandler DL10L that was quoted at $3200.

Good luck.

Now what I'm wondering is how soon you actually get delivery. Do they wait around for a week hoping for something to fill the other half of the trailer? I don't want it a month from now, but in a week or two at the most.

You can bet not many guys are running around with half a load on purpose.
Getting the best rate might well depend on you adopting somebody else's schedule.

I tried a company that a friend recommended and they are picking it up tomorrow and I should have it in a week. And only $2400 :D

Sounds like you got a deal. To move equipment around here, you'd be looking at $4.00-5.00 per mile. (one-way)

I had an old IH double bottom plow delivered from the Springfield IL area to my place in northern CA. Took about 3 weeks from the time I accepted the shipping quote. It was a small load (800 lb or so) and so the hauler had to fill his 35 ft gooseneck trailer in Illinois with two other loads before heading West.
