What would you guys estimate the cost to be to fence in 5 acres (fairly square) with t-posts and poly rope? I know I can figure this out with some research and math, but I didnt know if anyone has just a solid guess off the top of their head.

Too many variables. How many strands? All hot? What size poly rope? How many corners? What spacing do you want/need?

Shoot watch craigslist for some used t-posts and you could probably do it for under $200.

Well, 1 acre = 43,560 sq ft. So 5 acres is 217,800 sq ft.

A perfect square would be about 467' each side. so a perimeter of 1868'. The more rectangular it is, the longer the run will be.

How far apart do you plan on spacing t-posts. And what are you trying to contain?

Assuming a T-post every 10' you would need 187 of them.

Tractorsupply.com has the lighter weight 6' t-posts for $3.79 ea. So about $4 with tax. So thats ~$750 for posts

Have no idea what you mean by poly rope? is it a rope-fence material? Just a single strand of rope around the fences? what?

Ahh, there is the math I need. The poly rope is an electric wire wound up in plastic rope. If I recall, it was $50 for 2500' of it, we'd do 3 strands.

Sounds like $1000 is a fair budget.

Just depends on what t-posts you buy.

You can get 10' long heavy duty posts for ~$12 ea, or lighter duty 6' posts for the mentioned $4. And anything inbetween. So thats a pretty broad range of ~$750-~$2300

I've budgeted $2000 for the project including rope, tposts and box. So I'm not that far off.

I’m afraid you’re way off on the poly rope price. You can get a 656’ roll of poly wire for that price. Rope varies a bit depending on brand/diameter/strand quality, but I think even the cheapest starts around $120/656’ (the Zereba brand at TSC).

Out of curiosity, why the rope and not regular wire?

what are you fencing in? there a lot of trees around the fence line?
