Costly New Holland oil filters

I am using a Fram PH16 engine oil filter for my TC33D. I am on my 5th oil change using this oil filter. I recently performed the 600 hour complete oil change. Does anyone know of a cross reference for the two hydraulic oil filters or the air filters. I don't mind supporting my local dealer, but he doesn't have to get rich off me.

Attached is a picture which includes 3 reasons for owning a TC33D tractor. My daughter announced recently that I will have a 4th tractor rider in January. If it is a girl, I will teach her how to drive it just like the boys. Note: Three on the tractor just for pictures. Only one at a time for rides. One weekend this summer, we put 10 hours on the TC33 just giving rides.

The Wix crossover is a 51056 (according to Wix) and the NAPA 1056 is more expensive than ordering from Messick's.

A buddy with a NHTC35A just found out the samr thing, buying from NAPA was much more expensive for an oil filter than buying from the dealer. $8, vs. $13. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I looked up some of my invoices and compared them to Messick's. Very comparable but my prices a tad bit less, may have to do with the area. The hydraulic filter and the transmission filter I don't think there is a crossover. But for me at 16 cents give or take a few pennies per hour I would still go to my dealer. I just love going into the dealership and talking to the guys. Especially on a rainy day when the farmers come in to shoot the breeze. There is just something about that smell. But then I always loved the smell of a dairy barn too!! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

That is one way to look at it, however you could look at it from another perspective. I can buy 3 Fram PH16 filters for the same price as one NH oil filter. That is a savings of 66.7%. Now who isn't for saving money?

You need to read the oil filter examinination, on the "Bobtheoilguy" web site. After Bob cut open all the major brand filters, and compared them, I returned all my Fram filters to Walmart's. Price is not always related to value. Expensive diesel engines, and transmissions should be protected.

I've also noticed , all NH filters don't cross over. For instance.. my tractor uses an outter an inner air filter. Napa will cross one.. but not the other. Hyd filters don't cross either, nor does one of the fuel filters.

For the filters.. I just get them at the dealer... besides.. when I'm stuck out in the field and have to cell phone in and ask the shop forman 'what to do'.. they kinda remember if you come in and get some stuff from them.. vs only seeing you when you bought the tractor.

I do however buy my oil from napa or TSC though. When i do an oil change for my mini-fleet of tractors.. I go thru a few pails eachof gear oil, UTF and crankcase oil... I like the valvolene fleet diesel oil.. anybrand UTF and gearoil.

If you're comfortable using the Fram filter, I'd suggest a Motorcraft FL-300 or FL-400 if diameter is limited. The FL-400 comes with a silicone seal. I've used the FL-300 on both my Ford 1720 and more recently on my TC-40D for over 17 years.
