Got the rest of additional (5) braces installed. Used the unused 2x2 bracing from the kit at full length, just angled the ends for attachment. One end thru middle of 4x4 post with 3/8 bolt, other end attached with #12 self drilling screws to carport frame.

Also got the anchor bolts tightened down and trimmed all the long bolts from yesterdays bracing install.

Catchment plumbing basically done. All lines in and cemented.
Need a good rain or 2 to flush out debris etc before installing the filter. need to reinforce a couple of places and adjust the hangars.
This was designed to be a dry system, empties self of water between rains.

If any interest, I’ll share some details of the catchment later when I get better pics.

Looks good David! How much capacity did you add?

Thanks
More than doubled, Ted. Additional 876sf which would capture approx 525 g/inch rain.

Added the retaining wall.
Well, the blocks were fun. Actually went better than anticipated. If I counted correctly, 63 of the 8x8x16 (about 30lb each) and 3 half blocks. 3 courses, dry fit. Still need to stabilize with some pins - thinking some old fence posts cut in half and set about 4ft intervals and finish filling with soil. Thinking nice place to plant things. Placed the blocks about 3/4 in away from metal frame.

Another carport milestone.
Got the blocks stabilized with 12 3+ft lengths of metal fence post then filled all the blocks then backfilled. Last sheets of metal installed.
Almost done.

Carport is essentially done. Thank God, I’m whupped and my arms feel like they want to fall off. Put in the last almost 200 #12 self drilling screws and cleaned up my stuff. John volunteered to clean the concrete and do another raking of the filled area. So unless we find something I missed...l yes, the upper lanai railing, but that’s another project. Actually I think I have most what I need.

This has been a good project. Happy with the Versatube product, even though I modified it to suit my wants/needs and happy with the results. Dare I add up all the costs?
