I have the YJR 074 version of the one your considering. It is the heavy duty version. I love it. To me much better made. Please remember in tillers weight is your friend. Also go wide enough to cover tire tracks.

The YJR074 is hands down the best tiller of the size I have ever used. We have sold tillers for 12 years and like many dealers have tried all kinds of brands. Some are light, some look like they were built in a high school metal shop by the "C" students, some are weak, some have parts issues. Some lack features. And some are 4x the price of a inexpensive tiller, so out of reach for most folks.

When we came upon Terra Force a few years back we ordered a container of them and we have yet to have a single issue with them several containers later. And we have sold a ton of them, including the GM102 that is 102" wide and is being used commercially behind a 100HP tractor, and I have a Terra Force hydraulic drive unit on my Takeuchi TL130 track loader. I know eventually something has to break, but these are far and away the best tiller in my opinion when you consider price, features, quality, etc. Having said that, a lot of folks are very pleased with the KK units, so I mean no disrespect with that. And some folks are happy with the really light duty cheap Chinese tillers. We sold the cheap Chinese imports for a while, and if you are just doing the same garden area every year once or twice and maybe putting on one hour a year in nice soil, they will last forever. Like I have often said, I like Snap On tools, but that doesn't mean there is not a place for the occasional Harbor Freight item for the correct application.

The YJR is the first of the true heavy duty units in the Terra Force lineup. It has a big gear box, a large effective rotor diameter, dual skid shoes, and a spring down pressure rear flap. That rear flap helps leave a nice finish. It also has a oil filled bearing on the "dry" end of the rotor, not just a sealed bearing or a grease point.

Terra Force makes loaders for a number of OEMs via the parent company Ansung, so they are a substantial company. And they cut their own gears and make their own gear boxes instead of using a generic Chinese box with noisy gears and cheap seals. We spent a lot of time in years past fixing leaks on "USA made" tillers with cheap gearboxes and poor seals.

Don't be afraid to buy the Terra Force.

Dave, that's great information. I knew that Ansung makes good quality aftermarket FELs, but I didn't know anything about their tillers. Ansung is right here in Dallas, so that's good for some of us.

Does anyone know if ansung builds any products here in US?

A quick question please to Daves Tractor, Dave I looked up Ansung and am unsure what exactly is meant by tractor HP? On the YJR 062 it states 26-up HP - do they mean PTO or engine HP? I have TYM T273 w/approx 22 pto and 27 engine hp. I need at least 55" to cover my tire tracks. If I go "slow...." will my tractor handle the 062?
Thanks for the input. Greg

I have the YJR62 and it runs great on my L3200 which has 27 at the PTO. I am sure you could run it on less if needed, it really churns the ground and I am very impressed with it. This is my second season with it.

Greg, I think you will be OK with the T273, just use a slow ground speed and take a couple passes if needed. We have been using a 52" with a 23HP (engine HP) tractor and it does really well. As with any tilling, get the moisture level correct and it is a much more pleasant job and easier on the tractor and tiller. Dave

Well, ended up going with disk instead of the tiller. Although my property doesn't show many rocks on the surface, believe me they are there. I decided to rent a tiller for the weekend. I ran it for about 20 min and the rocks were beating the heck out of it. Stopped before I broke something. Went out and bought me a disk. I have about 4 acres total to prep this year for pasture, food plot, lawn. I will end up with about a 1/2 acre garden as well. As I collect the rocks out of my garden area maybe I will get a tiller down the road. But for now, will use a plow and disk.
