Hey,..if you don't have a personal (monetary) interest in it,...and you might be asigned a different one tomorrow,....I suppose that adds to the "who cares" type attitude huh ?

Its when you got either a life savings or a hefty mortgage etc on the machine, that you are a little more careful,....and even with belt and ROPS, you really don't "want" to chance a roll-over down that bank,...or even a scratch from those branches.

No,... seems most company vehicles get the rough treatment.

You can generally tell the ones that still have payments due,....OR,..your "job" depends on "that" machine! No machine, no job, ..NO paycheck!! Just wonderin' how maintenance costs would be if the Highway Dept (and others) would take that attitude with employees??? OK, okay, . . go easy,..twas just a thought,..that's all!! (Been there, done that)

CHEERS!

I have your silver lining for you...

"Honey, since I've got this bum hand now, I've got to go to the range and practice off-hand shooting."

Sweet, huh? I may try that.:D

I think I'm actually gonna try that next friday! :)

Yeah. I hate that. I can see it in our company cars. The ones that part time people use are beat to death. The ones the salaried folks use are cared for much better. Same model cars and vans, so no luxury VS economy.

A lot of it has to do with people that have a vested interest in seeing the company succeed VS people that don't. Anymore, however, there are fewer and fewer part time jobs, and we are getting some really overqualified folks applying for the few jobs that are out there. And they are ambitious and hard working and want to succeed in hopes of moving up should any full time positions open up. I remember a few years back when the only people that were not working were the ones that didn't want to work or were unemployable. Now, it is an employer's market for qualified people wanting to work for less money.

I agree 100%.. The 'career' minded people tend to make better stewards.

Ditto on the job market as well. We can hire skilled equipment operators or truck drivers for 10$ an hour all day long. Heck.. we've had guys come in, out of work for months saying they'd even start at minimum wage.. it's sad about the economy. Our company is struggling thru it trying to find crumbs to survive on.. all uphill it seems..

My dad was an architect(among other things). It seemed that about every 8-10 years he'd get laid off. Then, as he would say, "I have to work for kid wages again" and he'd roll his eyes. That's one problem with staying with a company for a long time. You pick up tons of knowledge and skill and get 50 cents or a dollar a year raise. All of a sudden you are making two to three times the starting salary and getting used to the paycheck. The company goes belly up and you have to start over. :( Best thing to do is try to live at a lower level than your means, never up to your means.

Before this thread goes away, my double-hijack. Honey (I raise bees) is also recommended for burns, including open and broken skin. Spread honey on, light gauze wrap, then some denser cloth to keep it together. Honey is high-acid, clean, and rejects water so healing goes quicker. Used for years.
