Here is my courtyard tree, a beech, ca 120 years old. It is getting too big, but I dont know if I dare to start pruning it.
It gives a nice shadow on hot summer days, keeping the house cool and comfortable.

A handsome tree, indeed! I wonder what variety of beech it is; my beeches grow just as big, but they are a completely different shape.

I'll post a picture of my courtyard maple as soon as it stops raining long enough to snap a photo. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

It did actually stop raining for a couple of hours, so here's mine.

This maple was transplanted as a mature tree, about 30 years ago. It came from dense woods, and for the first 10 years only had branches on one side. Then, about 20 years ago, it suddenly grew out into this perfectly round shape!

Here is mine - not sure what type of tree it is or how old it is. All I know is that it is HUGE!!
