We use a lot of crusher run where I live for driveways and on mine I put a thin layer of 78M pea gravel over it to give a nice surface, keep the white mud down, and promote drainage. Plus the pea gravel is nice to walk on. All the driveways meet a spec of 12' wide and at least 20' long with a 4" depth.
The going price for crusher run is about the same here as yours delivered or $10/ton if I haul my own.
